| 8 | 8 | | 1.8 Subdivision 1.Definitions.(a) For purposes of this section, the following terms have |

| 10 | 10 | | 1.10 (b) "Fire department" has the meaning given in section 299N.01, subdivision 2. |

| 11 | 11 | | 1.11 (c) "Municipality" means a statutory or home rule charter city or a town. |

| 12 | 12 | | 1.12 (d) "Volunteer emergency services provider" means a volunteer firefighter, as defined |

| 13 | 13 | | 1.13in section 299N.03, subdivision 7; volunteer ambulance attendant, as defined in section |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 1.14144E.001, subdivision 15; volunteer paramedic; or any other volunteer emergency medical |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 1.15personnel performing emergency medical services for a municipality or fire department. |

| 16 | 16 | | 1.16 Subd. 2.Tire purchases.A municipality or fire department may authorize a volunteer |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 1.17emergency services provider who has performed services for the municipality or fire |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 1.18department for at least three years and who is currently performing services for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 1.19municipality or fire department to purchase up to four vehicle tires for one personal vehicle |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 1.20owned by the volunteer emergency services provider every three years under a contract for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 1.21tires from which the municipality or fire department purchases vehicle tires. The volunteer |

| 33 | 33 | | 2.4department to purchase tires under this section must be in writing on the municipality's or |

| 34 | 34 | | 2.5fire department's letterhead and include the following: |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 2.6 (1) the volunteer emergency services provider's name; |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | 2.7 (2) the number of years the volunteer emergency services provider has performed services |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 2.8for the municipality or fire department; |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | 2.9 (3) the license plate number of the personal vehicle on which the tires will be placed; |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | 2.10and |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | 2.11 (4) a reference to the contract under which the municipality or fire department purchases |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | 2.12vehicle tires. |

| 42 | 42 | | 2.13 (b) The municipality or fire department must document how many tires each volunteer |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | 2.14emergency services provider purchases during the periods specified in this section. |
