                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to health; requiring revision of the list of tests to be administered for​
1.3 determining the presence of a heritable or congenital disorder; amending Minnesota​
1.4 Statutes 2024, section 144.125, subdivision 2.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 144.125, subdivision 2, is amended to read:​
1.7 Subd. 2.Determination of tests to be administered.(a) The commissioner shall​
1.8periodically revise the list of tests to be administered for determining the presence of a​
1.9heritable or congenital disorder. Revisions to the list shall reflect advances in medical​
1.10science, new and improved testing methods, or other factors that will improve the public​
1.11health. In determining whether a test must be administered, the commissioner shall take​
1.12into consideration the adequacy of analytical methods to detect the heritable or congenital​
1.13disorder, the ability to treat or prevent medical conditions caused by the heritable or​
1.14congenital disorder, and the severity of the medical conditions caused by the heritable or​
1.15congenital disorder. The list of tests to be performed may be revised if the changes are​
1.16recommended by the advisory committee established under section 144.1255, approved by​
1.17the commissioner, and published in the State Register. The revision is exempt from the​
1.18rulemaking requirements in chapter 14, and sections 14.385 and 14.386 do not apply.​
1.19 (b) The commissioner shall revise the list of tests to be administered for determining​
1.20the presence of a heritable or congenital disorder to include metachromatic leukodystrophy​
1.21(MLD).​
