1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; amending the definition of prior qualified human 1.3 trafficking-related offense to include violations of certain state laws committed in 1.4 the person's lifetime and violations of similar laws in other states; amending 1.5 Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.321, subdivision 14. 1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.321, subdivision 14, is amended to read: 1.8 Subd. 14.Prior qualified human trafficking-related offense.A "prior qualified human 1.9trafficking-related offense" means a previous conviction or delinquency adjudication within 1.10the ten years from the discharge from probation or parole immediately preceding the current 1.11offense for a violation of or an attempt to violate section 609.322, subdivision 1 (solicitation, 1.12inducement, and promotion of prostitution; sex trafficking in the first degree); 609.322, 1.13subdivision 1a (solicitation, inducement, and promotion of prostitution; sex trafficking in 1.14the second degree); 609.282 (labor trafficking); or 609.283 (unlawful conduct with respect 1.15to documents in furtherance of labor or sex trafficking); or a statute from another state or 1.16the United States in conformity with any of these offenses. 1.17 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2025, and applies to crimes 1.18committed on or after that date. 1Section 1. 25-02826 as introduced01/28/25 REVISOR KLL/ES SENATE STATE OF MINNESOTA S.F.
