7 | 7 | | 1.7 Subdivision 1.Required academic standards.(a) The following subject areas are |

39 | 39 | | 2.11and sexual abuse prevention instruction may must include age-appropriate multisession, |
---|
40 | 40 | | 2.12multimodal, culturally inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive |
---|
41 | 41 | | 2.13instruction on identifying emotional and physical child abuse and other forms of personal |
---|
42 | 42 | | 2.14violence, recognizing sexual abuse and assault, boundary violations, and ways offenders |
---|
43 | 43 | | 2.15groom or desensitize victims, as well as strategies to promote disclosure, reduce self-blame, |
---|
44 | 44 | | 2.16and mobilize bystanders. A school district may provide instruction under this paragraph in |
---|
45 | 45 | | 2.17a variety of ways, including at an annual assembly or classroom presentation. A school |
---|
46 | 46 | | 2.18district may also provide parents information on the warning signs of child physical and |
---|
47 | 47 | | 2.19sexual abuse, the medical and emotional effects of child abuse, and available resources. A |
---|
48 | 48 | | 2.20school district must train instructors on managing disclosures that may result during the |
---|
49 | 49 | | 2.21delivery of child physical and sexual abuse prevention instruction and develop a policy on |
---|
50 | 50 | | 2.22how to respond to the disclosures. |
---|
51 | 51 | | 2.23 (d) District efforts to develop, implement, or improve instruction or curriculum as a |
---|
52 | 52 | | 2.24result of the provisions of this section must be consistent with sections 120B.10, 120B.11, |
---|
53 | 53 | | 2.25and 120B.20. |
---|
54 | 54 | | 2.26 (e) Locally developed academic standards in health apply until statewide rules |
---|
55 | 55 | | 2.27implementing statewide health standards under subdivision 3 are required to be implemented |
---|
56 | 56 | | 2.28in the classroom. |

57 | 57 | | 2.29 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective for the 2026-2027 school year and later. |
