5	5	1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
6	6	1.6 Section 1. [92.84] PROHIBITING SALE OF PROPERTY IN BOUNDARY WATERS
7	7	1.7CANOE AREA WILDERNESS.
8	8	1.8 Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the commissioner of natural resources must
9	9	1.9not sell any state-owned land wholly or partially located in the Boundary Waters Canoe
10	10	1.10Area Wilderness. For purposes of this section, "state-owned land" means state land for
11	11	1.11which the school trust interest was extinguished through condemnation, university lands
12	12	1.12granted to the state by acts of Congress, and all other lands acquired by the state in any
13	13	1.13manner and under the control of the commissioner of natural resources. Nothing in this
14	14	1.14section prohibits an otherwise valid exchange of land wholly or partially located in the
15	15	1.15Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for other land.
16	16	1.16 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.

18	18	1.18 Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 92.82, is repealed.

30	30	(a) Notwithstanding sections 92.06, 92.13, 92.14, 92.45, 94.09, and 94.10, the commissioner
31	31	of natural resources may sell to the United States by private sale the surplus land, including the
32	32	land bordering public water, that is described in paragraph (d).
33	33	(b) The conveyance must be in a form approved by the attorney general. The attorney general
34	34	may make necessary changes to the legal description to correct errors and ensure accuracy.
35	35	(c) Notwithstanding sections 92.115, 92.12, and 94.10, an appraisal of the lands is not required,
36	36	and the value of the lands shall be determined in the same manner as the exchange with the United
37	37	States of other state-owned lands within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
38	38	(d) The land that may be sold is state-owned land under the control of the commissioner of
39	39	natural resources and located within the boundary of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
40	40	in Cook, Lake, and St. Louis Counties. The state-owned lands may include the state land for which
41	41	the school trust interest was extinguished through condemnation, university lands granted to the
42	42	state by acts of Congress, and all other lands acquired by the state in any manner and under the
43	43	control of the commissioner of natural resources.
44	44	(e) Conveyance of state lands within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to the United
45	45	States will preserve the spectacular wild areas while producing economic benefits for the state.
46	46	(f) Payment for state lands for which the school trust interest was extinguished through
47	47	condemnation shall be used to pay the award under the condemnation action.
