1.2 relating to food support; appropriating money for a grant to Greater Minneapolis
1.3 Council of Churches for food shelves.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; GREATER MINNEAPOLIS COUNCIL OF
1.6CHURCHES FOOD SHELVES.
1.7 (a) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the
1.8commissioner of children, youth, and families for a grant to Greater Minneapolis Council
1.9of Churches to provide funding to food shelves enrolled in the Minnesota FoodShare
1.10program. The grant funds must be distributed to food shelves based on the Minnesota
1.11FoodShare program's distribution formula. This is a onetime appropriation.
1.12 (b) Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches must report on the number of food shelves
1.13receiving these grant funds, the amount distributed to each food shelf, and any amount used
1.14for administrative purposes to the commissioner of children, youth, and families by August
1.151, 2026.
1.16 (c) Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches may use up to five percent of the
1.17appropriation for administrative costs.
