55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.456, subdivision 2, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subd. 2.Legislative auditor.Whenever an employee or officer of the state, University​
88 1.8of Minnesota, or other organization listed in section 3.971, subdivision 6, discovers evidence​
99 1.9of theft, embezzlement, or unlawful use of public funds or property, the employee or officer​
1010 1.10shall promptly report to law enforcement and shall, except when to do so would knowingly​
1111 1.11impede or otherwise interfere with an ongoing criminal investigation, promptly report in​
1212 1.12writing to the legislative auditor a detailed description of the alleged incident or incidents.​
