                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to energy; appropriating money for certain energy efficiency projects in​
1.3 Brainerd.​
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROJECTS; BRAINERD PUBLIC UTILITIES;​
1.6APPROPRIATION.​
1.7 (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779, subdivision 1, paragraph (j),​
1.8$9,900,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the renewable development account​
1.9under Minnesota Statutes, section 116C.779, subdivision 1, to the commissioner of commerce​
1.10for a grant to Brainerd Public Utilities for energy efficiency projects. The appropriation​
1.11under this section is available until expended.​
1.12 (b) For the purposes of this section, "energy efficiency project" includes but is not limited​
1.13to:​
1.14 (1) upgrades to existing turbine generators;​
1.15 (2) replacing existing turbine generators with new units; or​
1.16 (3) improvements to existing structures to accommodate new turbine generators.​
