1.2 relating to veterans; modifying eligibility for burial in state veterans cemeteries;​
1.3 appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.236,​
1.4 subdivision 8.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.236, subdivision 8, is amended to read:​
1.7 Subd. 8.Eligibility.Cemeteries must be operated solely for the burial of service members​
1.8who die on active duty, eligible veterans, and their spouses and dependent children, as​
1.9defined in United States Code, title 38, section 101, paragraph (2), and honorably discharged​
1.10members of the National Guard or a reserve component of the United States armed forces.​
1.11 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.​
1.12 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the general​
1.13fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for purposes of Minnesota Statutes, section​
1.14197.236, subdivision 8.​
