55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [13.11] DATA DISSEMINATION TO FEDERAL OFFICIALS AND​
77 1.7AGENCIES PROHIBITED.​
88 1.8 Subdivision 1.Definition.For purposes of this section, "personally identifiable​
99 1.9information" means any government data in which an individual is or can be identified as​
1010 1.10the subject of the data.​
1111 1.11 Subd. 2.Prohibited data sharing.(a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary and​
1212 1.12except as provided in paragraph (b), a government entity must not disseminate to a federal​
1313 1.13official or agency data of any classification that contains personally identifiable information​
1414 1.14unless the data is first masked or otherwise anonymized.​
1515 1.15 (b) A government entity may share personally identifiable information with federal​
1616 1.16officials or agencies only to the extent necessary to comply with a state statute or federal​
1717 1.17law or pursuant to a court order.​
1818 1.18 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
