55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [504B.213] CHILDREN WITH AUTISM; PROTECTION IN RENTAL​
77 1.7PROPERTY.​
88 1.8 (a) A tenant who has a child with autism living with the tenant may request a reasonable​
99 1.9accommodation to protect the child from harm when the tenant identifies a lake, river,​
1010 1.10stream, other body of water, or other attractive nuisance, that is accessible and in close​
1111 1.11proximity to the landlord's property. Upon such request, a landlord must make reasonable​
1212 1.12modifications to policies, practices, or procedures for the rental property, or make reasonable​
1313 1.13modifications to the property or facilities on the property, unless the modifications would​
1414 1.14fundamentally alter the nature of the facilities or other structural aspects of the property.​
1515 1.15 (b) A landlord may require documentation from a tenant that the child is autistic unless​
1616 1.16the child's condition is readily apparent or already known to the landlord.​
1717 1.17 (c) A landlord who receives or accommodates a request for a reasonable accommodation​
1818 1.18under this section may not retaliate in any way against the tenant.​
