1.2 relating to capital investment; extending an appropriation and bond sale
1.3 authorization for a U.S. Highway 8 reconstruction project in Chisago County;
1.4 amending Laws 2020, Fifth Special Session chapter 3, article 1, section 16,
1.5 subdivision 34.
1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.7 Section 1. Laws 2020, Fifth Special Session chapter 3, article 1, section 16, subdivision
1.834, is amended to read:

1.9Subd. 34.Chisago County; U.S. Highway 8
1.10Reconstruction
1.11(a) For a grant to Chisago County to
1.12predesign, design, engineer, and construct a
1.13reconstruction of marked U.S. Highway 8
1.14from Karmel Avenue in Chisago City to
1.15Interstate 35 and pedestrian and bike trails
1.16along and crossings of this portion of U.S.
1.17Highway 8. This reconstruction may include
1.18expanding segments of U.S. Highway 8 to
1.19four lanes, constructing or reconstructing
1.20frontage roads and backage roads, and
1.21realigning local roads to consolidate, remove,
1.22and relocate access onto and off of U.S.
1.23Highway 8. This appropriation is for the
1.24portion of the project that is eligible for use

2.6proceeds for the project in this subdivision are
2.7available until December 31, 2029.
2.8(b) Amounts planned by the Department of
2.9Transportation for the resurfacing of U.S.
2.10Highway 8, as reflected in MnDOT's Metro
2.11District Ten-Year Capital Highway Investment
2.12Study 2020-2029, shall instead be applied to
2.13the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 8 to
2.14supplement appropriations for that purpose
2.15from any fund in this section.
