                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to higher education; appropriating money to the Office of Higher Education​
1.3 for emergency grants to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities students.​
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS; EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR​
1.6POSTSECONDAR Y STUDENTS.​
1.7 $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from​
1.8the general fund to the commissioner of the Office of Higher Education for emergency​
1.9grants to students of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. These grants must be​
1.10awarded directly to students to meet immediate needs that could interfere with the student​
1.11completing the term or their program including but not limited to emergency housing, food,​
1.12and transportation. The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities must minimize any​
1.13negative impact on student financial aid resulting from the receipt of emergency funds.​
