22 1.2 relating to state government; requiring a report on vacant state office space.​
33 1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
44 1.4 Section 1. REPORT ON VACANT STATE OFFICE SPACE.​
55 1.5 The commissioner of administration must report by February 15, 2026, to the chairs and​
66 1.6ranking minority members of the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction over the​
77 1.7budget of the Department of Administration, cataloging office space owned or leased by​
88 1.8the state. The report should describe how much of the owned and leased office space is​
99 1.9substantially vacant. The report must detail whether and how the vacant space can be​
1010 1.10converted into housing and how much revenue can be returned to the state through rental​
1111 1.11or sale of the repurposed property. The commissioner is authorized to obtain estimates on​
1212 1.12the cost of converting vacant state office space to housing and to contract for a study on​
1313 1.13real estate market conditions to provide a basis for the evaluation of the revenue that could​
1414 1.14be returned to the state through rental or sale of the repurposed property.​
