55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [462.3656] AESTHETIC MANDATES PROHIBITED.​
77 1.7 Subdivision 1.Residential construction materials and methods.A municipality must​
88 1.8not impose requirements on residential developments related to construction materials or​
99 1.9methods, including architectural elements, building egress, durability, energy efficiency,​
1010 1.10or light access requirements, except as required by the State Building Code, as defined by​
1111 1.11section 326B.121, or other state or federal law or rule.​
1212 1.12 Subd. 2.Historic preservation exemption.Properties in a historic district under section​
1313 1.13138.73, are exempt from this provision.​
1414 1.14 Subd. 3.Interim ordinance.No municipality shall enact an interim ordinance as provided​
1515 1.15under section 462.355, subdivision 4, related to the policy changes in this section.​
1616 1.16 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
