                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to commerce; prohibiting nongratuity surcharges at restaurants; proposing​
1.3 coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325E.​
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. [325E.85] RESTAURANT SURCHARGES.​
1.6 (a) A restaurant is prohibited from charging a surcharge other than (1) a gratuity, as​
1.7defined in section 177.23, subdivision 9, or (2) taxes imposed by a government entity on​
1.8the sale or purchase of goods.​
1.9 (b) The penalties and remedies under section 8.31 apply to a violation of this section.​
