44 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
55 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN LAND IN CASS​
66 1.6COUNTY.​
77 1.7 (a) $250,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the ..... fund to the commissioner​
88 1.8of natural resources to initiate condemnation proceedings of the lands described in paragraph​
99 1.9(d). The commissioner may use this appropriation for project costs, including but not limited​
1010 1.10to valuation expenses, legal fees, closing costs, and transactional staff costs. This is a onetime​
1111 1.11appropriation and is available until spent.​
1212 1.12 (b) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45, 94.09 to 94.16, or any other​
1313 1.13provision of law to the contrary, once the land is condemned under paragraph (a), the​
1414 1.14commissioner of natural resources may convey the surplus land bordering public waters​
1515 1.15that is described in paragraph (d) to a federally recognized Indian Tribe for no consideration.​
1616 1.16 (c) The commissioner may make necessary changes to the legal description to correct​
1717 1.17errors and ensure accuracy.​
1818 1.18 (d) The land that may be conveyed is located in Cass County and is described as: the​
1919 1.19Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter; and all that part of the Northwest Quarter of​
2020 1.20the Southwest Quarter lying North of the northerly right of way of U.S. Highway No. 2, as​
2121 1.21it existed in 2024, all in Section 27, Township 145 North, Range 28 West of the Fifth​
2222 1.22Principal Meridian, Cass County, Minnesota.​
