| 4 | 4 | | 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: |

| 5 | 5 | | 1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 462A.33, subdivision 2, is amended to read: |

| 6 | 6 | | 1.6 Subd. 2.Eligible recipients.Challenge grants or loans may be made to a city,; a federally |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1.7recognized American Indian Tribe or subdivision located in Minnesota,; a Tribal housing |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 1.8corporation,; a private developer,; a nonprofit organization,; a school district,; a cooperative |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1.9unit, as defined in section 123A.24, subdivision 2,; a charter school,; a contract alternative |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1.10school; a Tribal contract school; or the owner of the housing, including individuals. For the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 1.11purpose of this section, "city" has the meaning given it in section 462A.03, subdivision 21. |

| 12 | 12 | | 1.12To the extent practicable, grants and loans shall be made so that an approximately equal |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1.13number of housing units are financed in the metropolitan area and in the nonmetropolitan |

| 14 | 14 | | 1.14area. |

| 15 | 15 | | 1.15 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 462A.33, subdivision 9, is amended to read: |

| 17 | 17 | | 1.17section 123A.24, subdivision 2; or a charter school; a contract alternative school; or a Tribal |
