1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for a grant to Ambassadors
1.3 of Culture, Hooyo Hour, and United Way.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES.
1.6 $450,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $450,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the
1.7workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development
1.8for grants to Ambassadors of Culture, Hooyo Hour, and United Way of Central Minnesota
1.9to work collaboratively in providing workforce development services for diverse
1.10communities, particularly young adults, mothers from immigrant backgrounds, and youth
1.11from East African communities. The services must focus on enhancing skills, education,
1.12and employment opportunities through job training, job coaching, employer engagement,
1.13and career coaching. This is a onetime appropriation. Of this amount:
1.14 (1) $150,000 each year is for a grant to Ambassadors of Culture;
1.15 (2) $150,000 each year is for a grant to Hooyo Hour; and
1.16 (3) $150,000 each year is for a grant to United Way of Central Minnesota.
