55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. [136A.247] PLANT-BASED FOODS PRODUCTION TRAINING PILOT​
77 1.7PROGRAM.​
88 1.8 The commissioner of higher education shall establish and administer a plant-based foods​
99 1.9production training pilot program to award grants to secondary career and technical education​
1010 1.10programs and institutions of higher education for the purpose of offering instruction in​
1111 1.11plant-based food production. The commissioner must give priority to institutions that​
1212 1.12coordinate with local producers of plant-based foods. Grants may be used for costs, including​
1313 1.13but not limited to:​
1414 1.14 (1) equipment required to produce plant-based foods;​
1515 1.15 (2) facility renovations to accommodate plant-based food production; and​
1616 1.16 (3) training faculty to teach the fundamentals of plant-based food production.​
1717 1.17Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.​
1818 1.18 $500,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner​
1919 1.19of higher education for the plant-based foods production training pilot program under​
2020 1.20Minnesota Statutes, section 136A.247. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until​
2121 1.21June 30, 2027.​
