55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 97C.395, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 97C.395 OPEN SEASONS FOR ANGLING.​
88 1.8 Subdivision 1.Dates for certain species.(a) The open seasons to take fish by angling​
99 1.9are as follows:​
1010 1.10 (1) for walleye, sauger, northern pike, and muskellunge, largemouth bass, and smallmouth​
1111 1.11bass, the Saturday two weeks prior to the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through the​
1212 1.12last Sunday in February;​
1313 1.13 (2) for brown trout, brook trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, and splake, between January​
1414 1.141 through October 31 as prescribed by the commissioner by rule except as provided in​
1515 1.15section 97C.415, subdivision 2; and​
1616 1.16 (3) for salmon, as prescribed by the commissioner by rule.​
1717 1.17 (b) The commissioner shall close the season in areas of the state where fish are spawning​
1818 1.18and closing the season will protect the resource.​
1919 1.19 Subd. 2.Continuous season for certain species.For largemouth bass, smallmouth bass,​
2020 1.20sunfish, white crappie, black crappie, yellow perch, channel catfish, rock bass, white bass,​
