66 1.6 Subdivision 1.Availability of additional benefits.Additional unemployment benefits​
77 1.7are available from the Minnesota unemployment insurance trust fund to an applicant who​
88 1.8was laid off due to lack of work after May 19, 2025, from:​
99 1.9 (1) an employer in the iron ore mining industry; or​
1010 1.10 (2) an employer that is providing goods or services to an employer in the iron ore mining​
1111 1.11industry if the applicant was laid off due to the cessation or substantial reduction in operations​
1212 1.12of an employer in the iron ore mining industry as described in clause (1).​
1313 1.13 Subd. 2.Eligibility requirements.An applicant is eligible to receive additional​
1414 1.14unemployment benefits under this section for any week through the week ending May 30,​
1515 1.152026, if:​
1616 1.16 (1) the applicant established a benefit account under Minnesota Statutes, section 268.07,​
1717 1.17with 50 percent or greater of the wage credits from an employer as described in subdivision​
1818 1.181, and has exhausted the maximum amount of regular unemployment benefits available on​
1919 1.19that benefit account; and​
2020 1.20 (2) the applicant meets the same requirements that an applicant for regular unemployment​
2121 1.21benefits must meet under Minnesota Statutes, section 268.069, subdivision 1.​

3131 2.2The weekly benefit amount of additional unemployment benefits is the same as the weekly​
3232 2.3benefit amount of regular unemployment benefits on the benefit account established in​
3333 2.4subdivision 2, clause (1).​
3434 2.5 (b) The maximum amount of additional unemployment benefits available to an applicant​
3535 2.6under this section is an amount equal to 26 weeks of payment at the applicant's weekly​
3636 2.7additional unemployment benefit amount.​
3737 2.8 (c) If an applicant qualifies for a new regular benefit account that meets the requirements​
3838 2.9of subdivision 4, paragraph (b), before the applicant has been paid additional unemployment​
3939 2.10benefits, and the new regular benefit account meets the requirements of subdivision 2, clause​
4040 2.11(1), the applicant's weekly additional unemployment benefit amount is equal to the weekly​
4141 2.12unemployment benefit amount on the applicant's new regular benefit account.​
4242 2.13 Subd. 4.Qualifying for a new regular benefit account.(a) If, after exhausting the​
4343 2.14maximum amount of regular unemployment benefits available as a result of the layoff under​
4444 2.15subdivision 1, an applicant qualifies for the new regular benefit account under Minnesota​
4545 2.16Statutes, section 268.07, the applicant must apply for and establish the new regular benefit​
4646 2.17account.​
4747 2.18 (b) If the applicant's weekly benefit amount under the new regular benefit account is​
4848 2.19equal to or higher than the applicant's weekly additional unemployment benefit amount, the​
4949 2.20applicant must request unemployment benefits under the new regular benefit account. An​
5050 2.21applicant is ineligible for additional unemployment benefits under this section until the​
5151 2.22applicant has exhausted the maximum amount of unemployment benefits available on the​
5252 2.23new regular benefit account.​
5353 2.24 (c) If the applicant's weekly unemployment benefit amount on the new regular benefit​
5454 2.25account is less than the applicant's weekly benefit amount of additional unemployment​
5555 2.26benefits, the applicant must request additional unemployment benefits. An applicant is​
5656 2.27ineligible for new regular unemployment benefits until the applicant has exhausted the​
5757 2.28maximum amount of additional unemployment benefits available under this section.​
5858 2.29 Subd. 5.Charging of benefits.Additional unemployment benefits paid under this section​
5959 2.30may not be used to compute the future unemployment tax rate of a taxpaying employer and​
6060 2.31may not be charged to the reimbursing account of government or nonprofit employers. This​
6161 2.32exception does not apply to an employer described in subdivision 1, clause (1).​

6464 3.2who has applied and been determined eligible for federal Trade Readjustment Allowance​
