                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to education; providing for a grant for literacy interventions; requiring a​
1.3 report; appropriating money.​
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; DYSLEXIA.​
1.6 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sums indicated in this section are​
1.7appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal years​
1.8designated.​
1.9 Subd. 2.Dyslexia Institute of Minnesota.(a) For a grant to the Dyslexia Institute of​
1.10Minnesota to provide free evidence-based literacy interventions to students who are reading​
1.11below grade level and are enrolled in public schools where a majority of students are eligible​
1.12for free or reduced-price meals:​

1.15 (b) Grant funds must be used to support tutor training and compensation, curricular​
1.16materials, program delivery, and program administration.​
1.17 (c) The Dyslexia Institute of Minnesota must provide a detailed report to the chairs and​
1.18ranking minority members of the legislative committees having jurisdiction over kindergarten​
1.19through grade 12 education and higher education by January 15 of each year until 2028​
1.20describing how grant funds were used, and progress made toward improving the literacy​
1.21proficiency of participating students.​
1.22 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2025.​
