                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to transportation; authorizing public transit operators to perform third-party​
1.3 testing for school buses; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, sections 171.01, by​
1.4 adding subdivisions; 171.3213.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.01, is amended by adding a subdivision​
1.7to read:​
1.8 Subd. 46a.School bus service."School bus service" means transportation services​
1.9provided to students using either a school bus as defined in section 169.011, subdivision​
1.1071, or public transportation service as defined in section 174.22, subdivision 7.​
1.11 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.01, is amended by adding a subdivision to​
1.12read:​
1.13 Subd. 48f.Transit operator."Transit operator" means a provider of transit bus services​
1.14as defined in section 169.011, subdivision 87.​
1.15 Sec. 3. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 171.3213, is amended to read:​
1.16 171.3213 THIRD-PARTY TESTING OF SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS.​
1.17 A school district that is a third-party testing program and owns or operates school buses​
1.18may enter into an agreement with other school districts to test the other districts' school bus​
1.19driver employees. A school bus company that is a third-party testing program and owns or​
1.20operates school buses may enter into an agreement with other school bus companies, school​
1.21districts, or transit operators to test the other companies' employees, districts' school bus​
