                            1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to public safety; clarifying that there is no duty to retreat before making​
1.3 a threat to use force in self-defense in certain circumstances; amending Minnesota​
1.4 Statutes 2024, section 609.06, by adding a subdivision.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.06, is amended by adding a subdivision​
1.7to read:​
1.8 Subd. 5.No duty to retreat under certain circumstances; threats of using force.A​
1.9person authorized to use force in compliance with subdivision 1, clause (3), is not required​
1.10to retreat, even if there is an opportunity to do so, before making a reasonable threat to use​
1.11force.​
1.12 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
