1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to elections; prohibiting major political parties from accepting contributions 1.3 during the legislative session; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 10A.273, 1.4 subdivision 1. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 10A.273, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 1.7 Subdivision 1.Contributions during legislative session.(a) A candidate for the 1.8legislature or for constitutional office, the candidate's principal campaign committee, a 1.9political party, or a political committee or party unit established by all or a part of the party 1.10organization within a house of the legislature, must not solicit or accept a contribution from 1.11a registered lobbyist, political committee, political fund, or an association not registered 1.12with the board during a regular session of the legislature. 1.13 (b) A registered lobbyist, political committee, political fund, or an association not 1.14registered with the board must not make a contribution to a candidate for the legislature or 1.15for constitutional office, the candidate's principal campaign committee, a political party, or 1.16a political committee or party unit established by all or a part of the party organization 1.17within a house of the legislature during a regular session of the legislature. 1.18 (c) Regardless of when made, a contribution made by a lobbyist, political committee, 1.19or political fund in order to attend an event that occurs during a regular session of the 1.20legislature and that is held by the principal campaign committee of a candidate for the 1.21legislature or constitutional office, or by a political party organization within a body of the 1.22legislature, is a violation of this section. 1Section 1. 25-01039 as introduced12/19/24 REVISOR JFK/AD SENATE STATE OF MINNESOTA S.F.
