55 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
66 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 197.23, subdivision 1, is amended to read:​
77 1.7 Subdivision 1.Authorization.The commissioner of veterans affairs may shall provide,​
88 1.8within available funds and upon request of a county veterans service officer or any​
99 1.9congressionally chartered veterans organization, an appropriate marker for the grave of any​
1010 1.10veteran as defined under section 197.447. Any marker provided must be used for memorial​
1111 1.11purposes to permanently mark the grave of a veteran buried within the limits of the state.​
1212 1.12 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.​
1313 1.13 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the general​
1414 1.14fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for the purposes of providing grave markers​
1515 1.15under Minnesota Statutes, section 197.23, subdivision 1. This is an ongoing appropriation.​
