1.1A Senate resolution1.2honoring the connections between Norway and Minnesota.1.3WHEREAS, Minnesota is home to one of the largest populations of Norwegian Americans 1.4in the United States, with deep cultural and ancestral ties to Norway; and1.5WHEREAS, Norwegian immigrants played a significant role in shaping Minnesota's 1.6communities, economy, and traditions, particularly in agriculture, education, and civic engagement; 1.7and1.8WHEREAS, Minnesota celebrates cultural events such as Syttende Mai (Norwegian 1.9Constitution Day), St. Lucia Day, and holiday feasts of pickled herring, to honor Norwegian heritage; 1.10and1.11WHEREAS, the Norwegian language, arts, and traditions thrive in Minnesota through 1.12organizations like Sons of Norway, Norway House, and the Scandinavian American Cultural Center; 1.13and1.14WHEREAS, Minnesota and Norway both find ways to stay warm and active in cold weather, 1.15thriving in the adversity of overcoming the elements; and1.16WHEREAS, members of the Norwegian Parliament and the Minnesota Senate both share a 1.17dedication to good governance, democratic processes, and earning the trust of the public; and1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it 1.19welcomes its friends and partners from the Norwegian Parliament.1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the delegation from 1.23the Norwegian Parliament.
