590.805.1.Alawenforcementofficershallnotknowinglyusearespiratorychoke-
2holdorcarotidrestraintunlesstheuseisindefenseoftheofficeroranotherfromserious
3physicalinjuryordeath.
4 2.Arespiratorychoke-holdincludestheuseofanybodypartorobjecttoattemptto
5controlordisablebyapplyingpressuretoaperson'sneckwiththepurposeofcontrollingor
6restrictingsuchperson'sbreathing.
7 3.Acarotidrestraintincludestheuseofanybodypartorobjecttoapply
8pressuretothecarotidarteriesonthesidesofaperson'sneckwiththepurpose,intent,
9oreffectofcontrollingorrestrictingtheperson'smovementorrestrictingtheperson's
10bloodflow.Theuseofacarotidrestraintshallnotpreventorhinderbreathing.
