570.212.1.Asusedinthissection,"mail"meansaletter,postalcard,package,
2bag,orothersealedarticlethat:
3 (1)Isdeliveredbyacommoncarrierordeliveryserviceandnotyetreceivedby
4theaddressee;or
5 (2)Hasbeenlefttobecollectedfordeliverybyacommoncarrierordelivery
6service.
7 2.Apersoncommitstheoffenseofmailtheftifthepersonpurposefully
8appropriatesmailfromanotherperson'smailboxorpremiseswithoutconsentofthe
9addresseeandwithintenttodeprivesuchaddresseeofthemail.
10 3.TheoffenseofmailtheftisaclassAmisdemeanorforafirstoffenseanda
11classEfelonyforanysecondorsubsequentoffense.
