| 12 | 12 | | Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring therein: |

| 13 | 13 | | That at the next general election to be held in the 1 |

| 14 | 14 | | state of Missouri, on Tuesday next following the first Monday 2 |

| 15 | 15 | | in November, 2024, or at a special election to be called by 3 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the governor for that purpose, there is hereby submitted to 4 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the qualified voters of this state, for adoption or 5 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | rejection, the following amendment to article VI of the 6 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Constitution of the state of Missouri:7 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Section A. Article VI, Constitution of Missouri , is 1 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as 2 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | section 32(d), to read as follows:3 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Section 32(d). The sheriff of the city of St. Louis 1 |

| 24 | 24 | | shall appoint the commissioner of corrections or other city 2 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | officer who is responsible for operat ing and maintaining 3 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | detentive, penal, and corrective institutions; for 4 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | investigating parole applications and making recommendations 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | relative thereto; for exercising supervision in parole and 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | probation cases; and for administering such other welfare 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | services as may be provided by charter, order, or ordinance 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of the City of St. Louis and such appointment shall be 9 |
