BeitenactedbytheGeneralAssemblyofthestateofMissouri,asfollows: SectionA.Chapter226,RSMo,isamendedbyaddingtheretoonenewsection,tobe 2knownassection226.1250,toreadasfollows: 226.1250.1.Thissectionshallbeknownandmaybecitedasthe"Alexander 2WhalenSafeHighwaysAct". 3 2.Asusedinthissection,theterm"wrong-wayvehicledetectionsystem"or 4"WWVDS"meansasystemconsistingofradarsensorsandthermalcamerasforvehicle 5detection,wrong-wayanddonotentersignsenhancedwithlight-emittingdiodes,and 6real-timealertstodepartmenttrafficmanagementcentersandlawenforcement. 7 3.ThedepartmentoftransportationshallimplementWWVDSsbeginningno 8laterthanMarch1,2026.ThedepartmentshallprioritizetheinstallationofWWVDSs 9athigh-riskhighwayinterchanges,beginningwith: 10 (1)TheintersectionofwestboundInterstate64andJeffersonAvenue;and 11 (2)Otherinterchangesidentifiedbythedepartmentthroughcrashandtraffic 12dataasbeingpronetowrong-waydriving. 13 4.WWVDSsshallbeintegratedwithdynamicmessagesignstoallowwarnings 14tobedisplayedtootherdriversinthearea. 15 5.Thedepartmentshalldevelopasystemtoautomaticallynotifyemergency 16respondersupondetectionofawrong-waydriver.
