SectionA.Section67.1018,RSMo,isrepealedandonenewsectionenactedinlieu
2thereof,tobeknownassection67.1018,toreadasfollows:
67.1018.1.Thegoverningbodyofthefollowingcountiesmayimposeataxas
2providedinthissection:
3 (1)Anycountyofthethirdclassificationwithoutatownshipformofgovernmentand
4withmorethanfivethousandninehundredbutfewerthansixthousandinhabitants; or
5 (2)Anycountywithmorethanfifteenthousandsevenhundredbutfewerthan
6seventeenthousandsixhundredinhabitantsandwithacountyseatwithmorethantwo
7thousandbutfewerthanthreethousandinhabitants.
8 2.Thegoverningbodyofanycountylistedinsubsection1ofthissectionmay
9imposeataxonthechargesforallsleepingroomspaidbythetransientguestsofhotelsor
10motelssituatedinthecountyoraportionthereof,whichshallnotbemorethanfivepercent
11peroccupiedroompernight,exceptthatsuchtaxshallnotbecomeeffectiveunlessthe
12governingbodyofthecountysubmitstothevotersofthecountyatastategeneralorprimary
13electionaproposaltoauthorizethegoverningbodyofthecountytoimposeataxunderthis
14section.Thetaxauthorizedinthissectionshallbeinadditiontothechargeforthesleeping
15roomandallothertaxesimposedbylaw,andfiftypercentoftheproceedsofsuchtaxshallbe
16usedbythecountytofundlawenforcementwiththeremainingfiftypercentofsuchproceeds
