The 4provisionsofthissectionshallnotpermitorrequireareductionintheamountof 5compensationbeingpaidfortheofficeofcoroneronJanuary1,1997: 6 AssessedValuation Salary 7 $18,000,000to40,999,999 $8,000 8 41,000,000to53,999,999 8,500 9 54,000,000to65,999,999 9,000 10 66,000,000to85,999,999 9,500 11 86,000,000to99,999,999 10,000 12 100,000,000to130,999,999 11,000 13 131,000,000to159,999,999 12,000 14 160,000,000to189,999,999 13,000 15 190,000,000to249,999,999 14,000 16 250,000,000to299,999,999 15,000 17 300,000,000ormore 16,000 HCSHB249 8 18 2.Onethousanddollarsofthesalaryauthorizedinthissectionshallbepayabletothe 19coroneronlyifthecoronerhascompletedatleasttwentyhoursofclassroominstructioneach 20calendaryearasestablishedbythecoronerstandardsandtrainingcommissionunless 21exemptedfromthetrainingbytheMissouriCoroners'andMedicalExaminers'Association 22forgoodcause.TheMissouriCoroners'andMedicalExaminers'Associationshallprovidea 23certificateofcompletiontoeachcoronerwhocompletesthetrainingprogramandshallsenda 24listofcertifiedcoronerstothetreasurerofeachcountyandthedepartmentofhealthand 25seniorservices.Thecoronerstandardsandtrainingcommissionmaycertifytraining 26programsthatsatisfytherequirementsofthissectioninlieuofthetrainingprovidedbythe 27MissouriCoroners'andMedicalExaminers'Association.Certifiedtrainingcompletionshall 28besubmittedtotheMissouriCoroners'andMedicalExaminers'Associationwhich,upon 29validatingthecertifiedtraining,shallsubmittheindividual'snametothecountytreasurerand 30departmentofhealthandseniorservicesindicatingtheindividualiscompliantwiththe 31trainingrequirements.Expensesincurredforattendingthetrainingsessionmaybe 32reimbursedtothecountycoronerinthesamemannerasotherexpensesasmaybe 33appropriatedforthatpurpose.Allelectedorappointedcoroners,deputycoroners,and 34assistantstothecoronershallcompletetheannualtrainingdescribedinthissubsectionwithin 35sixmonthsofelectionorappointment. 36 3.Thecountycoronerinanycountynothavingacharterformofgovernmentshall 37not,exceptupontwo-thirdsvoteofallthemembersofthesalarycommission,receivean 38annualcompensationinanamountlessthanthetotalcompensationbeingreceivedforthe 39officeofcountycoronerintheparticularcountyforservicesrenderedorperformedonthe 40datethesalarycommissionvotes. 41 4.Forthetermbeginningin1997,thecompensationofthecoroner,incountiesin 42whichthesalarycommissionhasnotvotedtopayonehundredpercentofthemaximum 43allowablesalary,shallbeapercentageofthemaximumallowablesalaryestablishedbythis 44section.Thepercentageappliedshallbethesamepercentageofthemaximumallowable 45salaryreceivedorallowed,whicheverisgreater,tothepresidingcommissionerorsheriff, 46whicheverisgreater,ofthatcountyfortheyearbeginningJanuary1,1997.Inthosecounties 47inwhichthesalarycommissionhasvotedtopayonehundredpercentofthemaximum 48allowablesalary,thecompensationofthecoronershallbebasedonthemaximumallowable 49salaryineffectateachtimeacoroner'stermofofficecommencesfollowingthevotetopay 50onehundredpercentofthemaximumallowablecompensation.Subsequentcompensation 51shallbedeterminedasprovidedinsection50.333. 52 5.EffectiveJanuary1,1997,thecountycoronerinanycountynothavingacharter 53formofgovernmentmay,upontheapprovalofthecountycommission,receiveadditional 54compensationforanymonthduringwhichinvestigationsorotherservicesareperformedfor HCSHB249 9 55threeormoredecedentsinthesameincidentduringsuchmonth.Theadditional 56compensationshallbeanamountthatwhenaddedtotheregularcompensationthesumshall 57equalthemonthlycompensationofthecountysheriff. [58.200.Whentheofficeofsheriffshallbevacant,bydeathor 2 otherwise,thecoronerofthecountyisauthorizedtoperformalltheduties 3 whicharebylawrequiredtobeperformedbythesheriff,untilanothersheriff 4 forsuchcountyshallbeappointedandqualifiedandsuchcoronershallhave 5 noticethereof.Insuchcase,saidcoronermayappointoneormoredeputies, 6 withtheapprobationofthejudgeofthecircuitcourt,andeverysuch 7 appointment,withtheoathofofficeendorsedthereon,shallbefiledinthe 8 officeoftheclerkofthecircuitcourtofthecounty.Ifthecoronerbecomesthe 9 actingsheriffandthesheriffisnolongerreceivingthesheriff'ssalary,the 10 coronermaybepaid,inadditiontothecoroner'ssalary,thedifferencebetween 11 thesalariesofsheriffandcoronersothatthecoronerreceivestheequivalentof 12 thesheriff'ssalarywhileservingasactingsheriff.] 58.200.Whentheofficeofsheriffshallbevacant,bydeathorotherwise,thecoroner 2ofthecountyisauthorizedtoperformallthedutieswhicharebylawrequiredtobe 3performedbythesheriff,untilanothersheriffforsuchcountyshallbeappointedandqualified 4[,]andsuchcoronershallhavenoticethereof[, and].Insuchcase,saidcoronermayappoint 5oneormoredeputies,withtheapprobationofthejudgeofthecircuitcourt;andeverysuch 6appointment,withtheoathofofficeendorsedthereon,shallbefiledintheofficeoftheclerk 7ofthecircuitcourtofthecounty.Ifthecoronerbecomestheactingsheriffandthesheriff 8isnolongerreceivingthesheriff'ssalary,thecoronermaybepaid,inadditiontothe 9coroner'ssalary,thedifferencebetweenthesalariesofsheriffandcoronersothatthe 10coronerreceivestheequivalentofthesheriff'ssalarywhileservingasactingsheriff.
