148andthevoter'smarkshallbewitnessedbythesignatureofanelectionjudge.
115.640.1.Anystudententitledtovoteatanyelectionheldwithinthisstate
2shall,onthedayofsuchelection,beentitledtoabsenthimselforherselffromschoolfor
3aperiodofthreehoursbetweenthetimeofopeningandthetimeofclosingthepollsfor
4thepurposeofvoting,andanyabsenceforsuchpurposeshallbecountedasexcused,
5andsuchstudent,ifheorshevotes,shallnot,becauseofsoabsentinghimselforherself,
6beliabletoanypenaltyordiscipline,providedthatarequestshallbemadeforsuch
7leaveofabsencepriortothedayofsuchelection.Theschoolmaydesignateanythree
8hoursbetweenthetimeofopeningandthetimeofclosingthepollsduringwhichsuch
9studentmayabsenthimselforherself.
10 2.Eachschooldistrictshalladoptandimplementawrittenpolicyrelatingto
11absencesexcusedunderthissectionbeginningwiththe2025-26schoolyear.The
12departmentofelementaryandsecondaryeducationshalldevelopamodelpolicy

14policyshallbecompletedandmadeavailabletoschooldistrictsbeginningwiththe2025-
1526schoolyear.
