HB512--CAREERANDTECHNICALEDUCATIONPROGRAMS SPONSOR: Wilson Thisbillrequiresthat,beginninginthe2025-26schoolyear,the StateBoardofEducationandtheCareerandTechnicalEducation AdvisoryCouncilevaluatetheFederaltaxonomiccodingschemeof instructionalprogramsknownastheClassification ofInstructional Programs(CIP)todeterminethetypesofinstructionalprograms thatmaymeettheminimumrequirementsleadingtorecognitionas partofaCTEprogramthatoffersaCTEcertificate. Uponevaluation,iftheBoardandCouncildeterminesthatan existingteachingcertificationcanbeappliedtoaparticularCIP codetheprogramrepresentedbysuchCIPcodemustbeapprovedasa CTEprogram. IftheBoardandCouncildeterminethatnoexisting teachercertificationcanbeassignedtoaparticularCIPcode,the programrepresentedbysuchCIPcodecanbeapprovedasaCTE programanddesignatedasaprogramwithinappropriateteacher certificationuntiltheappropriateteachercertificationforsuch CIPcodecanbeapproved.
