1212 376.1758.1.Forpurposesofthissection,theterm"doula"meansanindividual
1313 2whohasbeentrainedtoprovidephysical,emotional,andeducationalsupport,butnot
1414 3medicalormidwiferycare,topregnantandbirthingwomenandtheirfamiliesbefore,
1515 4during,andafterchildbirth.
1616 5 2.Thedepartmentofhealthandseniorservicesshallreviewandapprovedoula
1717 6registrationtoallowforhealthinsurancereimbursementofdoulaservices.
1818 7 3.Thedepartmentofhealthandseniorservicesshall:
1919 8 (1)Createthecriteriaforthedoularegistrationapplication;
2020 9 (2)Reviewapplicationsfordoulastoregistertoreceivehealthinsurance
2121 10reimbursementinthisstate;
2222 11 (3)Approveapplicationstodesignateregistereddoulastatusbasedonthe
2323 12criteriacreatedundersubdivision(1)ofthissubsection;
2424 13 (4)Notifyapplicantsofapprovalordenialofdoularegistrationstatus.Any
2525 14denialnotificationshallincludethespecificreasonorreasonsforthedenial;and

3737 25 6.Thedepartmentofhealthandseniorservicesshallpromulgateallnecessary
3838 26rulesandregulationsfortheadministrationofthissection.Anyruleorportionofa
3939 27rule,asthattermisdefinedinsection536.010,thatiscreatedundertheauthority
4040 28delegatedinthissectionshallbecomeeffectiveonlyifitcomplieswithandissubjectto
