98 To amend chapter 9, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to Kappa Alpha Psi Day

1211 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
1312 Section A. Chapter 9, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
1413 one new section, to be known as section 9.409, to read as 2
1514 follows:3
1615 9.409. 1. January fifth of each year shall be known 1
1716 and designated as "Kappa Alpha Psi Day" in Missouri. The 2
1817 citizens of this state are encouraged to observe the day 3
1918 with appropriate activities and events to commemorate the 4
2019 founding of the fraternity. 5
2120 2. Kappa Alpha Psi was founded on January 5, 1911, at 6

3332 national body. The fraternity has over two hundred fifty 18
3433 thousand members with seven hundred undergraduate and alumni 19
3534 chapters in nearly every state of the United States, and 20
3635 thirteen international chapters in Nigeria, Sout h Africa, 21
3736 Bermuda, Bahamas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Panama, United 22
3837 Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Dominican Republic, Abu 23
3938 Dhabi, Canada, and Japan. 24
4039 5. Through its worldwide prominence, Kappa Alpha Psi 25
4140 has had a global impact on events that affect ou r local 26
4241 communities and places around the globe. Local chapters of 27
4342 Kappa Alpha Psi participate in community outreach activities 28
4443 to feed the homeless, provide scholarships to young people 29
4544 matriculating to college, serve as mentors to young men, 30
4645 participate in blood drives, and serve as hosts of seminars 31
4746 for public health awareness, to name a few. Nationally, 32
4847 Kappa Alpha Psi has provided summer enrichment camps and 33
4948 funds for St. Jude Medical Research Center to assist in the 34
5049 fight against childhood catastrophic diseases by raising 35
5150 more than one million dollars. Internationally, Kappa Alpha 36
5251 Psi members have answered the call to service by proudly 37
5352 serving our military in wars since WWI and raising funds to 38
5453 assist those in need following natural di sasters worldwide, 39
5554 including hurricanes, tornadoes, typhoons, and earthquakes. 40
5655 6. Kappa Alpha Psi proudly boasts members who 41
5756 epitomize the essence of "Achievement in Every Field of 42
