11 | 11 | | Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows: |

12 | 12 | | Section A. Section 173.1352, RSMo, is repealed and one 1 |
---|
13 | 13 | | new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 2 |
---|
14 | 14 | | 173.1352, to read as follows:3 |
---|
15 | 15 | | 173.1352. 1. As used in this section, the following 1 |
---|
16 | 16 | | terms mean: 2 |
---|
17 | 17 | | (1) "Advanced placement examination", any examination 3 |
---|
18 | 18 | | administered through the College Board's Advanced Placement 4 |
---|
19 | 19 | | Program (AP); 5 |
---|
20 | 20 | | (2) "Institution", any in -state public community 6 |
---|
21 | 21 | | college, college, or university that offers postsecondary 7 |
---|
22 | 22 | | freshman-level courses; 8 |
---|
23 | 23 | | (3) "International baccalaureate examinat ion", any 9 |
---|
24 | 24 | | examination for assessment purposes administered through the 10 |
---|
25 | 25 | | International Baccalaureate Organization at the end of the 11 |
---|
26 | 26 | | International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme . 12 |
---|
27 | 27 | | 2. (1) Each institution shall adopt and implement a 13 |
---|
28 | 28 | | policy to grant undergraduate course credit to entering 14 |
---|
29 | 29 | | freshman students for each advanced placement examination 15 |
---|
30 | 30 | | upon which such student achieves a score of three or higher , 16 |
---|
31 | 31 | | or each international baccalaureate examination for an 17 |
---|
32 | 32 | | international baccalaureate diploma pr ogramme course upon 18 SB 243 2 |
---|
33 | 33 | | which such student achieves a score of 4 or higher, for any 19 |
---|
34 | 34 | | similarly correlated course offered by the institution at 20 |
---|
35 | 35 | | the time of such student's acceptance into the institution. 21 |
---|
36 | 36 | | (2) In the policy, the institution shall: 22 |
---|
37 | 37 | | (a) Establish the institution's conditions for 23 |
---|
38 | 38 | | granting course credit; and 24 |
---|
39 | 39 | | (b) Identify the specific course credit or other 25 |
---|
40 | 40 | | academic requirements of the institution, including the 26 |
---|
41 | 41 | | number of semester credit hours or other course credit, that 27 |
---|
42 | 42 | | the institution will grant to a student who achieves 28 |
---|
43 | 43 | | required scores on advanced placement examinations or 29 |
---|
44 | 44 | | international baccalaureate examinations . 30 |
---|
45 | 45 | | 3. On request of an applicant for admission as an 31 |
---|
46 | 46 | | entering freshman, and based on information provided b y the 32 |
---|
47 | 47 | | applicant, an institution shall determine and notify the 33 |
---|
48 | 48 | | applicant regarding: 34 |
---|
49 | 49 | | (1) The amount and type of any course credit that 35 |
---|
50 | 50 | | would be granted to the applicant under the policy; and 36 |
---|
51 | 51 | | (2) Any other academic requirement that the applica nt 37 |
---|
52 | 52 | | would satisfy under the policy. 38 |
