88 To repeal section 478.690, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to associate

1111 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
1212 Section A. Section 478.690, RSMo, is repealed and one new 1
1313 section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 478.690, 2
1414 to read as follows:3
1515 478.690. 1. There shall be two circuit judges in the 1
1616 twenty-fourth judicial circuit consisting of the counties of 2
1717 Madison, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve and Washington. These 3
1818 judges shall sit in divisions numbered one and two. 4
1919 2. The circuit judges in divisions one and two shall 5
2020 be elected in 1982. 6
2121 3. There shall be one additional associate circuit 7
2222 judge in St. Francois County. The associate circuit judge 8
2323 shall be appointed by the governor and shall serve until 9
2424 January 1, 2027, and until his or her successor is duly 10
2525 elected in 2026. This associate circuit judge shall not be 11
2626 included in the stat utory formula for authorizing additional 12
2727 associate circuit judges per county as provided in section 13
2828 478.320. 14
