1010 To repeal section 376.1222, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to

1313 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
1414 Section A. Section 376.1222, RSMo, is repealed and one 1
1515 new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 2
1616 376.1222, to read as follows:3
1717 376.1222. 1. Any health insurance policy through the 1
1818 Medicaid program pursuant to chapter 208, the children's 2
1919 health insurance program pursuant to sections 208.631 to 3
2020 208.660, and any health care plans issued to employees under 4
2121 the Missouri consolidated health car e plan established 5
2222 pursuant to chapter 103 that are delivered, issued for 6
2323 delivery, continued or renewed in this state on or after 7
2424 January 1, 2004, shall provide coverage for prostheses and 8
2525 expenses for scalp hair prostheses worn for hair loss 9
2626 suffered as a result of alopecia areata or alopecia totalis 10
2727 for persons eighteen years of age or younger who are covered 11
2828 under a policy, program or plan pursuant to this section. 12
2929 The benefits required by this subsection shall expire when 13
3030 the covered person r eaches eighteen years of age. 14
3131 2. Any health benefit plan delivered, issued for 15
3232 delivery, continued, or renewed in this state on or after 16
3333 January 1, 2025, shall provide coverage for prostheses and 17 SB 345 2
3434 expenses for scalp hair prostheses worn for hair los s 18
3535 suffered as a result of cancer treatment. 19
3636 3. For purposes of this section, the following terms 20
3737 mean: 21
3838 (1) "Health benefit plan", the same meaning as is 22
3939 ascribed to such term in section 376.1350; 23
4040 (2) "Prostheses", artificial appliance s used to 24
4141 replace lost natural structures; 25
4242 [(2)] (3) "Scalp hair prostheses", artificial 26
4343 substitutes for scalp hair that are made specifically for a 27
4444 particular individual. 28
4545 [3.] 4. The coverage required by this section shall 29
4646 not be more than a maximum benefit amount of two hundred 30
4747 dollars per calendar year or exceed a lifetime maximum 31
4848 benefit amount of three thousand two hundred dollars for 32
4949 those persons who select a more permanent scalp hair 33
5050 prosthesis. A person may request a one -time expenditure of 34
5151 up to three thousand two hundred dollars. The benefits 35
5252 required by this section shall expire when total benefits 36
5353 paid reach three thousand two hundred dollars [or when such 37
5454 person listed in subsection 1 of this section reaches 38
5555 eighteen years of age]. 39
5656 [4.] 5. The health care service required by this 40
5757 section shall not be subject to any greater deductible or co - 41
5858 payment than other similar health care services provided by 42
5959 the policy, program, or plan. 43
6060 [5.] 6. Nothing in this section shall prohibit a 44
6161 health insurer or health benefit plan from providing 45
6262 coverage that is greater than or more favorable to persons 46
6363 than the coverage provided by this section. 47
6464
