88 To amend chapter 590, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to a committee on school

1111 Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Missouri, as follows:
1212 Section A. Chapter 590, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto 1
1313 one new section, to be known as section 590.208, to read as 2
1414 follows:3
1515 590.208. 1. There is hereby established the 1
1616 "Committee on School Safety" within the department of public 2
1717 safety. 3
1818 2. The committee shall consist of the following 4
1919 members: 5
2020 (1) Up to three representatives of the department of 6
2121 public safety; 7
2222 (2) A representative of the Missouri Sheriff's 8
2323 Association; 9
2424 (3) A representative of the Missouri Municipal League; 10
2525 (4) A representative of the department of elementa ry 11
2626 and secondary education; and 12
2727 (5) A representative of the Missouri School Boards' 13
2828 Association's Center for Education Safety. 14
2929 3. One member who represents the department of public 15
3030 safety shall serve as chair of the committee. 16
3131 4. Members of the committee shall serve without 17
3232 compensation but may be reimbursed for actual expenses 18 SB 508 2
3333 necessary to the performance of their official duties for 19
3434 the committee. 20
3535 5. The committee shall meet at least four times per 21
3636 year, and at least once pe r calendar quarter, to evaluate 22
3737 and establish guidelines for school safety concerns, 23
3838 including plans to prevent school firearm violence. 24
3939 6. Except as provided in section 610.021, all meetings 25
4040 of the committee shall be open to the public. 26
4141 7. The committee shall submit a report in writing to 27
4242 the governor, president pro tempore of the senate, and 28
4343 speaker of the house of representatives after each meeting 29
4444 of the committee. 30
