1010 Submitting to the qualified voters of Missouri, an amendment repealing section 18(b) of article VI
1111 of the Constitution of Missouri, and adopting one new section in lieu thereof relating
1212 to the office of assessor in charter counties.

1414 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring therein:
1515 That at the next general elec tion to be held in the 1
1616 state of Missouri, on Tuesday next following the first Monday 2
1717 in November, 2026, or at a special election to be called by 3
1818 the governor for that purpose, there is hereby submitted to 4
1919 the qualified voters of this state, for adoption or 5
2020 rejection, the following amendment to article VI of the 6
2121 Constitution of the state of Missouri:7
2222 Section A. Section 18(b), article VI, Constitution of 1
2323 Missouri, is repealed and one new section adopted in lieu 2
2424 thereof, to be known as section 1 8(b), to read as follows:3
2525 Section 18(b). The charter shall provide for its 1
2626 amendment, for the form of the county government, the 2
2727 number, kinds, manner of selection, terms of office and 3
2828 salaries of the county officers, and for the exercise of all 4
2929 powers and duties of counties and county officers prescribed 5
3030 by the constitution and laws of the state; however, such 6
3131 charter shall[, except for the charter of any county with a 7
3232 charter form of government and with more than six hundred 8
3333 thousand but fewer than seven hundred thousand inhabitants, ] 9 SJR 1 2
3434 require the assessor of the county to be an elected officer 10
