33 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 156
44 Whereas, Israel has been granted her lands under and
55 through the oldest deed, as recorded in the Torah or Old
66 Testament, a tome of scripture held sacred and revered by
77 Jews and Christians alike; and
88 Whereas, Missouri recognizes the claim and presence of
99 the Jewish people in Israel that has remained constant
1010 throughout the past 4000 years; and
1111 Whereas, Missouri recognized Israel's declared
1212 independence and self governance on May 14, 1948, with the
1313 goal of reestablishing its legally recognized lands as a
1414 homeland for the Jewish people; and
1515 Whereas, Missouri's son, U. S. President Harry S.
1616 Truman, was the first world leader to officially recognize
1717 Israel as a legitimate Jewish state on May 14, 1948, only 11
1818 minutes after its creation; and
1919 Whereas, Missouri agrees and supports U.S. President
2020 Donald Trump who, on December 6, 2017, recogniz ed Jerusalem
2121 as the eternal capital of Israel; and
2222 Whereas, the United States and Missouri have enjoyed a
2323 close and mutually beneficial relationship with Israel and
2424 her people; and
2525 Whereas, Israel is a great friend and ally of the
2626 United States in the Middle East:
2727 Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the members of the
2828 Missouri Senate, One Hundred and Third General Assembly,
2929 First Regular Session, hereby commend Israel for its cordial
3030 and mutually beneficial relationship with the Unite d States
3131 and the state of Missouri since 1948 and that the
3232 relationship continue to strengthen and be valued in this
3333 state and in this country, in all its dimensions.

3535 Be It Further Resolved that the Secretary of the Senate
3636 be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this
3737 resolution for the Israeli Consulate General to the Midwest
3838 in Miami, Florida.
