11 MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Judiciary B By: Representative Bell (65th) House Bill 4006 AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO ANDRE NICHOLS OF HINDS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: SECTION 1. The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Andre Nichols of Hinds County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crime of receiving stolen property in Lafayette County, on July 9, 2014, for which he was sentenced to serve four (4) years probation under the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He violated probation on October 29, 2014, and his probation was revoked. He was sentenced on October 29, 2014, for the crime of possession of controlled substance with intent and receiving stolen property to serve thirty (30) months in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He was released on July 30, 2015, and discharged on June 10, 2016. He was sentenced on May 2, 2022, in an out of state court on the charge of possession of firearm by convicted felon for which he was sentenced to serve four (4) years probation. He was released on June 13, 2022. The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
