11 MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representatives James-Jones, Butler-Washington, Crudup House Concurrent Resolution 21 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND CELEBRATING MISSISSIPPI JUNETEENTH HOMECOMING WEEKEND 2025. WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the significance of Juneteenth Homecoming Weekend in celebrating freedom, empowerment and unity; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the valuable contributions and heritage of its citizens with Mississippi roots throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the economic benefits derived from the return of its citizens with Mississippi roots, which contribute to the economic impact and growth of the state; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the potential for new business opportunities and investment considerations that arise from the return of its citizens with Mississippi roots; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the potential for return migration to Mississippi, leading to potential growth and the opportunity to regain a 5th Congressional District; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the importance of attracting individuals with a tech mindset, leading to a brain infusion of talent and innovation in the state; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi acknowledges the growth in cultural tourism, hospitality, sports and outdoor recreation revenue, enhancing the visibility and economic prosperity of the state; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi is committed to strengthening and stabilizing a growth strategy for technology workforce development in the state, ensuring a competitive edge in the digital age; and WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi is dedicated to positioning and strengthening state public schools to achieve positive outcomes in areas of achievement and learning, ensuring a bright future for the youth of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and celebrate Mississippi Juneteenth Homecoming Weekend 2025. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
