11 MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Hines House Resolution 21 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 20, 2025, AS NONPROFIT DAY AT THE CAPITOL AND ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS OF THE STATE TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR COMMUNITIES. WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the invaluable contributions of nonprofit organizations in enhancing the quality of life for all its residents; and WHEREAS, nonprofit organizations in Mississippi provide essential services, support community development, and advocate for the well-being of our citizens; and WHEREAS, these organizations address critical issues such as education, healthcare, social services, environmental protection, and cultural enrichment, often filling gaps that government and private sectors are unable to fill; and WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of nonprofit staff, volunteers and supporters are vital to the success and sustainability of these organizations; and WHEREAS, the Mississippi House of Representatives acknowledges the importance of fostering a supportive environment for nonprofits to thrive and continue their mission-driven work; and WHEREAS, the 2025 Nonprofit Day at the Capitol provides an opportunity for nonprofit leaders, advocates and supporters to engage with legislators, share their successes and challenges, and advocate for policies that strengthen the nonprofit sector: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby proclaim February 20, 2025, as Nonprofit Day at the Capitol in the State of Mississippi and encourage all citizens to recognize and support the vital work of nonprofit organizations in our communities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
