1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Johnson House Resolution 3 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LINKS, INCORPORATED, ON THE AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF "MISSISSIPPI LINKS DAY AT THE CAPITOL 2025", AND HONORING THE ESTEEMED ORGANIZATION'S OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY, THIS STATE AND THE NATION. WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, is an international, nonprofit corporation which was founded in 1946, and now boasts more than 17,000 members in 299 chapters that are located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom, with an impressive seven active chapters located in the State of Mississippi, the organization's Southern Area; and WHEREAS, on February 26, 2025, the passionate and dedicated members of this esteemed and highly respected organization, have traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, for the "Mississippi Links Day at the Capitol" to receive legislative updates, promote advocacy and take action as part of their commitment to criminal and social justice, political awareness, voter empowerment, and commitment to statewide civic engagement; and WHEREAS, members of the Legislature, including Representative LaTaisha Jackson, who is a proud member of the organization, will inform the members of the organization of the status of critical pieces of Mississippi legislation affecting the public policy initiatives of The Links, Incorporated, as "Mississippi Links Day at the Capitol" is a vital part of the national political awareness initiative for members; and WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, is one of the nation's oldest, largest and most revered volunteer service organizations whose members are professional women committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry, and to this end, the organization contributes more than one million documented hours of community service annually; and WHEREAS, the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, consists of more than 4,500 members in 80 chapters, and its seven Mississippi chapters are the Mississippi Delta, Mississippi Roses, Golden Crest, Jackson, LeFleur's Bluff, Natchez and Gulf Coast chapters, and each works independently and collectively to improve lives and communities within the State of Mississippi; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend impressive organizations whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all, thereby improving the lives of Mississippians: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend The Links, Incorporated, on the auspicious occasion of "Mississippi Links Day at the Capitol 2025", and honor them for their outstanding service to the community, this state and the nation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to committee representatives of The Links, Incorporated, Mississippi chapters and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
