1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative McMillan House Resolution 41 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON-RIDGELAND ACADEMY BOYS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM FOR WINNING THE MIDSOUTH ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS CLASS 6A STATE TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Boys Track Team sprinted their way towards victory at the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class 6A Track and Field State Championship to claim their fifth straight championship, cementing the school's legacy in track and field in Mississippi; and WHEREAS, finishing with an impressive record, the Patriots, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work and greatness for the game that ultimately set the team apart to collect the coveted track and field championship trophy; and WHEREAS, reigning supreme at the state championship meet and ultimately receiving the number one trophy marked a truly momentous occasion for the Patriots, and the championship win was an unparalleled honor for the elite team, with each individual teammate making a substantial contribution during the season that led to the championship win; and WHEREAS, the championship win was the fifth straight for the mighty Patriots, who have won championships in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024; and WHEREAS, the team, who sprinted, dashed and jumped with nothing but heart and soul all season, is comprised of the following tremendously talented and distinguished student-athletes: Holt Adams, Jack Bailey, Barr Biggs, Will Bizot, Cade Clark, Ford Clark, Jonas Cox, James Downer, Sam Hailey, Trace Hendon, Ben Horner, Ford Johnson, Jaxon Jenkins, Ashton Magee, Jake McMillan, AJ Parker, Matthew Perkins, John Polles, Jack Pentecost, Beckett Strong, Jackson Toler, Mason Towler, Adam Tucker, RL Ridgway and Ellis Rich; and WHEREAS, the Patriots were superbly coached and tremendously inspired by Head Coach John Weaver, who is in his 20th year of coaching and his 14th year at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, and during his victorious tenure, he has broadened the team's knowledge of the sport and refined their skills in execution; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the remarkable achievements of student-athletes, especially those such as the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Boys Track and Field Team, who have brought honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Boys Track and Field Team for winning the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class 6A State Track and Field Championship and extend most sincere wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
