1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Bounds House Resolution 55 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NESHOBA CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY TEAM FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, the Neshoba Central High School Boys' Cross Country Team has brought honor and pride to the Neshoba County School District by winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Championship; and WHEREAS, the Neshoba Central Rockets dominated the Class 6A State Championship for cross country in the State of Mississippi for the 2024-2025 school year, with four runners finishing in the top 10 of the 5K race and all seven of the team's runners finishing in the top 25, a very impressive accomplishment considering 98 of the state's best runners participated in the race; and WHEREAS, the team's passion, enthusiasm, leadership and grit earned Neshoba Central High School its first ever state championship in boys cross country, in addition to a region title, and only the second boys championship in any sport at Neshoba Central; and WHEREAS, the success of the cross country program at Neshoba Central High School is due to the incredible support and resources made available from the parents, coaches, and especially the administration; and WHEREAS, the team's ascent to the pinnacle of cross country excellence has been made manifest through the tenacious efforts of both coaches and athletes alike, including: Prentice Copeland, Chaston Johnson, Shot Stribling, Zayden Nowell, Isaiah Thomas, Jon Paul Moore, Quinton Dan, Evan Hallford, Emjae Willis, Quinton Stephens, Lucas Maxwell-McArthur, Jordan Langley, Coach Joey Walker, and Head Coach Will Stewart; and WHEREAS, the Rockets will surely carry the unforgettable memories they made along the way and the lessons of hard work, dedication and perseverance learned during this amazing season throughout their lives as they remember the feeling of greatness that accompanies being a champion; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by the Neshoba Central High School Boys' Cross Country Team, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this elite group of student-athletes, who have brought honor to Neshoba County High School and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Neshoba Central High School Boys' Cross Country Team for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
